CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Bradley County Commissioner Vice Chairman Adam Lowe is a candidate to replace Eric Watson as the state representative for House District 22, he announced today.

Watson is seeking to be the county's next sheriff. Lowe, a local business owner and educator, said in a news release that he told family and friends of his intention earlier this week.

"My wife and I have known for some time that I was feeling led to serve in a different role in our area," Lowe told a group of supporters at a private gathering. "When it was clear the state seat was open, I knew that it was time to take my work ethic and experience to Nashville."

Lowe won his first political office in 2010, beating an incumbent in the Republican primary to become the 4th District Bradley County commissioner.
