Kentucky sex offender charged in Tennessee case

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - A man registered as a sex offender in Kentucky has been indicted in Tennessee on charges he raped a child over several years.

The Leaf-Chronicle reported that a grand jury in Montgomery County, Tenn., charged 42-year-old Joey Johnson with nine counts of rape of a child, two counts of sexual exploitation and one count of aggravated sexual exploitation.

Clarksville Police spokeswoman Natalie Hall says Johnson is currently on the sex offender registry for raape second degree out of Madisonville, Ky., stemming from a 1997 case.

Police say the child told investigators the sexual abuse started when she was six years old and continued over several years.
