Veenstra joins Museum Center at 5ive Points

Joy Veenstra has been named curator of education at the Museum Center at 5ive Points in Cleveland, Tenn.

"Providing engaging, family-oriented educational opportunities is a vital part of the Museum's mission," said Executive Director Hassan Najjar. "We're excited to welcome Joy and look forward to the creative programming she will be developing for visitors of all ages."

Veenstra earned a master's of arts in museum studies from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., and a bachelor's degree in English from Milligan College in Johnson City, Tenn.

Between degrees, Veenstra served as children's librarian assistant at the Cleveland Bradley County Public Library, where she directed the summer reading program.

Most recently, Veenstra served as museum programs associate at the National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington, D.C. In this role, she designed core exhibits, created and managed the Museum's Teacher Advisory Group and directed the Witness to History event series.

"I'm looking forward to working with the staff to create new opportunities for the community to experience the story of the Ocoee Region," said Veenstra.

Decosimo sponsors summit

Decosimo, a Top 100 accounting and business advisory firm, was the lead sponsor for the 4th Annual Private Equity Operations and Compliance Summit hosted by the Financial Research Associates (FRA) last week at New York City's Princeton Club.

Principal Karl J. Jordan chaired the two-day conference focused on optimizing the productivity and cost-efficiency of private equity funds.

The conference educated fund managers on avoiding serious compliance and regulatory pitfalls, strategizing an effective tax plan and enhancing management practices and LP relations.

Jordan is Decosimo's investment entities practice leader and also serves as the director in charge of the firm's Grand Cayman office, Moore Stephens Decosimo Cayman Limited.

Williams selected for award

Mark Williams, principal systems security officer at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, has been named Volunteer of the Year by the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), the only independent forum dedicated to advancing the development of cybersecurity professionals, their organizations, and critical infrastructure worldwide.

"I am very pleased Mark has been selected to receive the Volunteer of the Year award," said Caleb Merriman, chief information security officer at BlueCross. "His commitment to information security extends well beyond his outstanding work at our company, and his willingness to share his knowledge and years of experience with others is a true asset to the information security community."

ISSA has fostered many of the industry's most respected leaders and is driving the future of the cybersecurity profession. Every year outstanding individuals, chapters, and organizations are recognized by the ISSA Awards Committee.

Wilson chosen as Life Care Physician Services COO

Stephen A. Wilson was recently named chief operating officer for Life Care Physician Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Life Care Centers of America that places on-site physicians in skilled nursing and rehab centers.

"Steve brings a wealth of experience in the health care field, with responsibilities in hospitals from chief financial officer to chief operating officer," said Dr. Kenneth Scott, chief medical officer for Life Care Centers of America. "He also spent several years doing clinical and non-clinical health care leadership recruiting."

Wilson most recently served as chief financial officer and vice president of finance for the Potomac Conference Corporation of Seventh-day Adventists. His prior assignments included similar positions at Takoma Adventist Hospital in Greeneville, Tenn.; Feather River Hospital in Paradise, Calif.; Simi Valley Adventist Hospital in Simi Valley, Calif.; and Adventist Health System/Sunbelt in Orlando, Fla.

A graduate of Pacific Union College in Angwin, Calif., Wilson earned his bachelor's degree in business administration/accounting.

Life Care Physician Services placed its first on-site physician in 2010. It has now grown to include 80 full-time physicians placed in buildings in 15 states.
