The Tennessee Supreme Courts' Board of Professional Responsibility censured Bradley County lawyer James Franklin Logan Jr. last week.

According to a news release, Logan tried to foreclose on one of his clients' houses. Logan and the client are principals in a limited partnership. The client owed money to the partnership, and Logan wanted to foreclose on the house to get that money.

But in doing this, according to the release, Logan broke some rules. The board concluded that Logan acted against his client's best interest, illustrating a conflict of interest. He also broke a rule when he told his client's former wife about his client's financial situation without getting approval from the client.

The board censured Logan on Oct. 16. A censure does not affect an attorney's ability to practice the law. It is simply a rebuke and a warning.
