NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Grundy County is getting a $200,000 grant to construct a multi-purpose recreational trail along the former Mountain Goat railroad bed.
Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Deputy Commissioner Brock Hill presented the Recreational Trails Program grant to the Mountain Goat Trail Alliance this week.
Hill says the grant will allow the alliance to provide residents with additional recreational opportunities.
The Recreational Trails Program is a federally funded program established to distribute funding for diverse recreation trail projects. The funds are available to federal, state and local government agencies, as well as non-profit organizations under certain conditions.
