Ahoy, mateys. The Tennessee Aquarium has picked a nautical theme for its annual Halloween party and is inviting "buoys" and "ghouls" to come join the fun.

AquaScarium VI: Pirates of the Aquarium, set for 6-9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, will begin with swashbuckling action.

"We have two pairs of pirate characters who will be clattering and clanging their way around outside the Ocean Journey building in a choreographed sword fight," says membership manager Mara-Lynne Payne. "Inside, kids will start their adventure by getting an eye patch and learning some pirate lingo before searching for candy treasure."

Scuba divers dressed like superheroes and other fanciful characters will pose for photos with kids in costume.

Guests can also boogie like a buccaneer on a special dance floor, pose for a pirate portrait, hug a costumed mascot, meet Magellan's ghost, discover hidden booty in Davey Jones' locker and see amazing critters, such as coconut crabs, in animal encounters.

Both River Journey and Ocean Journey will be decked out for the pirate adventure, and Blue Bell ice cream will be served under the pirate pavilion between the two buildings.

Cost for members is $6 all ages. Nonmembers pay $30 for adults, $20 for children 3-18 (includes Aquarium admission). All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets will be available at the door, or buy online at https://community.tnaqua.org/events/fall-2013/aquascarium-vi-pirates-of-the-aquarium-10/25/13.
