SPARTA, Tenn. - A Nashville man has drowned while swimming at Burgess Falls State Park.

Putnam County Sheriff David Andrews told WSMV-TV that Abdulah Amsabil went under while swimming with family members on Monday near the bottom of the main falls. He never resurfaced.

Search crews from Putnam and White counties found the body of the 22-year-old man later in the day.

It was at least the third death in Middle Tennessee over the holiday weekend.

The station reports an 18-year-old Smyrna High School senior drowned Monday near the Walter Hill dam on the Stones River and officials recovered the body of a 39-year-old LaVergne man on Sunday after a boating accident at Percy Priest Lake.
