OPELIKA, Ala. - Two women have been convicted on charges they hit children while working at a day care center in east Alabama.

The Opelika-Auburn Newsreports that 28-year-old Kimberly Satanna Frazier and 29-year-old Adrian Wright were convicted on four counts each of harassment.

The two women worked at Dandyland Day Care Center in Opelika, and prosecutors said they beat children with wet rags and rulers.

Opelika police began investigating the day care center following reports that children were being mistreated.

An attorney for the women, Andrew Cooper, says neither did anything wrong. He says neither should have been charged.

The women were convicted during a trial before a judge, and they could now appeal the decision and seek a jury trial..
