With its focus on fresh produce, Chattanooga Market would seem to celebrate the harvest every week, but this Sunday, Sept. 8, will offer the first taste of fall's bounty.

So in addition to the regular assortment of arts and crafts and the late-summer crops still coming in, the Harvest Festival will provide the season's first pick of apples, some fall and winter squash and maybe even a few pumpkins, says spokeswoman Melissa Siragusa.

All that's needed now is an autumnal nip in the air.

In conjunction with the Harvest Festival, the Market is holding its inaugural 8K Harvest Run. Those who participate in either the 8K marathon or 2-mile fun run will get first dibs on the apples when they finish the race, which has an 8:30 a.m. start time.

Runners may sign up at www.ChattanoogaMarket.com/8kRun or register starting at 7 a.m. the day of the race. Advance registration is $30 for the 8K, $20 for the 2-miler, which includes a commemorative shirt. On race day, the entry fee rises to $35 for the 8K. Discounts are available on the Market's Facebook pages.
