SpringHill gets bike share station

A new Chattanooga bike share station has been installed at the SpringHill Suites by Marriot in downtown Chattanooga. The station can accomodate 10 bikes and features four docks. The bike share program is run by the Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System.


Piech expected to retire at VW

Volkswagen's chairman Ferdinand Piech likely will step down from his post within the next few months, German business newspaper Handelsblatt said on Friday. Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn, whose contract as VW's chief executive runs until the end of 2016, is expected to succeed Piech as chairman. A company spokeswoman declined to comment on whether Piech, 76, is about to retire but did say Winterkorn is set to remain as chief executive.


Blue Cross to add 600 jobs

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia plans to add 600 jobs in the Columbus, Ga., area. The Atlanta-based health insurer signed a two-year lease for 47,700 square feet of office space in the Muscogee Technology Park to boost its Columbus staff to about 1,800 employees. A portion of its employees work remotely from their homes.
