Dunkin' Donuts adds Signal Mountain Road store

The new Dunkin' Donuts on Signal Mountain Road in Chattanooga will open Thursday.

The doughnut shop at 627 Signal Mountain Road is franchisee Blumont Group's fourth in the Chattanooga area. The company also plans to add two additional Dunkin' Donuts in Ooltewah and Cleveland.

At just under 2,000 square feet, the restaurant has room for 35 people to sit and eat, including an outdoor patio. After exiting the Chattanooga market in the 1990s, Dunkin' Donuts came roaring back into the Scenic City in 2009 and has been expanding since.

Chattanooga History Center gets Unum boost

Unum Group has given the Chattanooga History Center another $350,000, bringing the company's support for the museum's fundraising drive to $500,000. Unum, the world's biggest disability firm based in Chattanooga, will become the official sponsor of the educational programs at the new center and the presenting sponsor for the museum's Orientation Theater, which will feature a 10-minute introductory firm narrated by Oscar-nominated and Chattanooga native Samuel L. Jackson.

With the Unum gift, the center's capital campaign has surpassed $9.4 million toward its $10.5 million fundraising goal. Located in a new 19,500-square-foot building in the Ross's Landing Park and Plaza, the museum is scheduled to open in early 2014.
