Northgate Mall is adding a major retailer as national off-price company Burlington plans to open a 63,000-square-foot store.
Mall owner CBL & Associates Properties Inc. said that Burlington, formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, will locate its first store in the Chattanooga area in the Hixson mall.
“The addition of Burlington to the center will not only enhance Northgate Mall by delivering the first store in the market for a great retail name, but also demonstrates our commitment to investing in the mall’s continued growth,” said Stephen Lebovitz, CBL’s chief executive, in a statement.
Burlington will locate between Sears and JCPenney in space that formerly held a Belk home goods department store.
Several stores will relocate to accommodate Burlington, according to the Chattanooga-based mall owner.
Construction is expected to begin in January with a grand opening for Burlington scheduled for October 2014.
