A former juvenile counselor working on a state contract has been charged with having sex with a minor client in Monroe County, authorities said.

Jamie Tesoro, 29, of Knoxville, was indicted by the Monroe County grand jury last week on six counts of statutory rape, according to Kristin Helm with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The release said Tesoro worked for Health Connect America, which contracts with state departments to provide services to juveniles. The release said she began a sexual relationship with one of her counseling clients in December and that it continued through May.

The 10th Judicial District Attorney General's office asked TBI to investigate in May, and the Department of Children's Services and Monroe County Sheriff's Department assisted, the release stated.

Tesoro was booked into the Monroe County jail on $25,000 bond.
