School bus driver cited

A school bus driver is receiving a citation for following too closely after a crash Tuesday morning resulted in 11 students getting transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to Chattanooga police.

The bus driver, identified by police as David Kimbro, 62, rear-ended a Ryder truck at a red light at 8:37 a.m. in the 6500 block of Bonny Oaks Drive. He told police that he was monitoring a disturbance on the bus when the collision happened.


Toddler dies after accident

A child struck by a car Tuesday night in East Ridge has died, authorities said.

Cpl. Robert Wade said in a news release the 1-year-old and an adult were standing between two vehicles at a home on Knollwood Drive when a family member moved one of the vehicles and hit them.

The child died at the hospital. Wade said no charges are pending.


Three burglary arrests made

Chattanooga police announced they have apprehended suspects in three burglary cases Sept. 7-8.

Police arrested Zackaree Howard, 19, and Carlos Jones, 18, after responding to a burglary-in-progress call Sept. 7 on the 1000 block of Tunnel Boulevard. The two were charged with aggravated burglary and vandalism.

Walter Henry, 31, was arrested Sept. 8 after he attempted to gain access into a residence on the 1300 block of Dodson Avenue. Henry faces charges of attempted aggravated burglary, vandalism and possession of burglary tools. He was also arrested on eight outstanding burglary warrants.

Police also arrested Kevin McCullough, 19, after he and another man allegedly tried to break into a home on the 5000 block of Beulah Avenue. McCullough faces charges of aggravated battery and theft, as well as separate burglary charges from two weeks before.

The second suspect has not been arrested, but those with information about the crime are asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525.


Suburban stolen at car wash

Chattanooga police are seeking information on a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban that was stolen after it had been cleaned at the East Gate Car Wash, 5514 Brainerd Road.

The white male is about 6 feet tall, and described as being a thin man in his 30s. He was wearing a button down shirt with jeans, and has shaggy brown hair with a goatee.

Any information on this theft should be directed to Crime Stoppers at 423-698-3333. Confidential information could be eligible for a cash reward.


Stolen Lookout items found

Lookout Mountain police said a search warrant executed Wednesday afternoon will solve a "majority" of the residential burglaries committed on Lookout Mountain last month.

The Lookout Mountain, Tenn., and Lookout Mountain Ga., police departments investigated a string of several home burglaries in August. After gathering suspect information, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office assisted the two forces in searching a residence in the South Broad Street area.

Illegal drugs were found inside the residence as well as televisions and other suspected stolen property, according to the news release.
