Chattanooga announces road closings, traffic pattern changes

The Chattanooga Transportation Department has announced some road closings and changes in traffic patterns for next week.

The 600 block of West Manning Street will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day to remove the U.S. Highway 27 overhead bridge span. Work will be carried out weather permitting, and detour signs will be posted.

A news release said valve replacements will be made at the intersection of Chestnut Street at West Sixth Street next week. Southbound traffic on Chestnut will be detoured to Sixth and then south on Broad Street. Eastbound West Sixth will be detoured north on Chestnut and east on West Fifth Street. The two lane closures/detours will be carried out in succession, the release said.

It was also announced that the 600 block of North Moore Road will be narrowed to one lane in each direction on Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. This is to allow for a utility project to be carried out.
