Carpet comeback in North Georgia

Georgia's biggest textile industry — the carpet manufacturing industry based in Dalton, Ga. -- is adding jobs again this year after six years of declining or stagnate job growth in the floorcovering industry that cut industry employment by nearly one fourth. Major job additions planned this year include:

• Engineered Floors is building new plants projected to add 2,000 jobs in and around Dalton

• Shaw Industries is building distribution center in Adairsville, Ga, a carpet tile plant in Nantong, China, and a warehouse in Dalton. Collectively, more than 600 jobs will be added by Shaw.
