Local authors get their time in the sun this week at the Friends of the Library Book Sale.
Starting today, the fundraiser for Friends of the Chattanooga Public Library will fill the inside of Eastgate Town Center, 5600 Brainerd Road, with tens of thousands of books and other media. But in an added plus, many local authors will be on hand at some point during the 10-day sale, selling and signing copies of their books and doing readings.
Twenty percent of the local authors' profits will be donated to Friends of the Library, which supports library initiatives not funded by the city, including literacy programs, staff appreciation and development and projects for children and teens.
The sale runs through Monday, Sept. 30; its hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays.
For more information, call the library at 423-757-5310.
