Syria policy spells trouble — and more letters to the editors

Syria policy spells trouble

President Obama said “It’s not my red line. It’s the world’s red line.” So all 300 million of us misunderstood him several months ago? Wrong.

“My credibility is not on the line,” he also said. Wrong again. In his mind, everything is about him. This president ignores 70 percent of the will of the American people, ignores Congress, ignores our Constitution, and ignores all basic “rules of engagement.” Now the Senate panel has approved this idiotic intervention into what is actually a Syrian civil war.

This president railed against former president George W. Bush for engaging our military in Iraq and Afghanistan, yet it is now quite obvious that Saddam Hussein secretly hid chemical weapons in Syria, just as Bush claimed. These horrible weapons have now been used at least 13 times, and killed over 1400 people, including 426 children. But who actually used the chemical weapons? Consider this: al-Qaida could gas their own people, blame Assad, and accomplish exactly what is happening right now — a civil war that would eventually involve America via an inept, bungling, egotistical, and completely ignorant Obama. The man is a worldwide embarrassment. May God help us all.

Stop gun violence now

I have read several articles in your newspaper over the last several months and I am still unsure where your papers stand in our fight against gun violence. Chattanooga with all its gangs needs to be up front and speaking out against gun violence.

Debates and meetings are good venting arenas but laws need to pass and the community, must get more involved. Being a large newspaper you have the resources to speak and reach tens of thousands of people across this great state.

Our President has taken several measures to help states and communities that are having trouble passing effective gun laws. A lot of folks in our state think all he wants to do is take our guns and that is not the case. Some of President Obama’s undertakings need to be disseminated as a reminder until major restrictions and laws have been taken.

The President has: closed background check loopholes, issued a presidential memorandum directing research into the causes and prevention of gun violence, made our schools safer and increased mental health services.

Please do whatever you can to get the word out to our different communities to stop the gun violence.

Medicare funded if shutdown occurs

If the federal government is shut down, existing law requires that Social Security, veterans retirement, active duty military pay, Medicare and Medicaid, and certain other expenses be met. Liberals should check the facts before commencing their expected demagoguery.

House Joint Resolution 62, sponsored by Congressman Tom Graves (R-Ga.), provides all funds approved for fiscal year. It does not provide funds for the implementation of Obamacare. The bill, which I have read, is available online. Everyone should read it before making incorrect statements.

The Constitution specifies that all spending bills originate in the House and HR 62 does this. If it passes the House, it must go to the Senate. If Harry Reid, the majority leader, refuses to consider it for a vote, he will be the one shutting down the government. If he allows a vote and HR62 is defeated, those Senators voting no will shut down the government. A third of them, including some Republicans, are up for election next year, as are all members of the House.

Zinn commentary unfair to history

Free Press guest commentary writer Roger Smith had harsh words for historian Howard Zinn in a column Sept. 7 titled "The Cardinal Zinn of Anti-Americanism."

Apparently Smith does not appreciate criticism of America. Regarding Zinn, it would be hard to believe we are referring to a "good guy" when as Smith insists, "He was a member of the communist party since 1949." Smith is smelling smoke and crying fire; Zinn preferred Socialism, knew some "commies," and the FBI during the "Red Scare" took out a file on him in 1949. Here's some unarguable facts: Zinn was a bombardier in the Eighth Air Force (WWII European Campaign), an early and active supporter of civil rights, spoke against our involvement in Vietnam and Iraq, and was a successful writer. His "A People's History of the United States" is a hard and perhaps tiresome read as he recalls unpleasant truths. While our story as a nation is positive and amazing, Zinn reminds us that not everything was perfect. Smith appears to prefer simplistic versions of history. I find him quoting Cicero ("Not to know what happened before you were born is to be forever a child") the height of irony.

John Bergen says: This president ignores 70 percent of the will of the American people. While 100% of the Republican choose to ignore the will of the majority of Americans, you know, like this last election and the one in 2008. The vast majority of Americans voted against your un-American policies. You are such 3rd grade school yard bullies, you are disgusting in your ignorance and arrogance.

Good letter, Byron Chapin. America has done some good things throughout our history, and we have done some bad things, too. It is not "anti-American" to be aware of and talk about our warts. Actually, those who want only to sugar-coat our history and excuse our wrongs based on some far-reaching and haughty notion of "exceptionalism" are the ones who are not worthy of being called patriots. They are over-zealous nationalists and in their America-right-or-wrong attitude they unwittingly contribute to an environment ripe for dictatorship and tyranny, such as came about under Hitler. Howard Zinn was more of a true American than any of his detractors who vilify him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~On: ...'Syria policy spells trouble'~~~~~~~~~
As a Federal Congressional Campaign Manager for one of our Tennessee Candidates I learned valuable lessons.
Our Candidate was so very far ahead of his time in genuine statesmanship and political Ideology that the general population did not grasp his concepts of governance.
Only certain university's Political Science Departments (maybe 2-3) were in his league of understanding regarding these nouveau political ideas.
One of the most powerful of these ideas allowed Constituents to 'directly' determine how their Congressional Representative would vote for bills. Their majority vote (which could not conflict with the U.S. Constitution) on any bill would determine the vote of my candidate.
But, lo, the people did not have the confidence that they could 'self-govern'.
When the House and Senate decides to 'not' attack Syria, they are not representing the people. The House and Senate probably has never represented the majority of their (so called) Constituents. They are an 'elitist' CLUB!
Orr, now's a good time to produce your credentials as a mental health therapist since you claimed last week you possessed such.
Of course, you also claimed science credentials. And running a failed campaign for a fifth-rate candidate is not sterling credentials either.
So do what you claimed you would do. Produce your mental health credentials.
We both know you lied about that, about your science credentials, about nearly everything you've written to puff yourself up.
One only needs to go back into the history of your posts to see you're a pathological liar.
And the majority of citizens in America do not want war with Syria. Again you've lied.
So show everyone your science credentials and your mental health therapist credentials that you claimed.
We both know that's not going to happen.
'counselor vs therapist'
"The words become interchangeable because mental health therapists/counselors do both things. We use counseling to join with our clients and build a relationship. We use therapies that we’ve learned to facilitate healthy change. In fact, counseling is our most often-used therapeutic technique, because good counsel is, itself, therapeutic."
So when you’re searching for a therapist/counselor, know that both words may be used. Many of us use the word “counselor” to differentiate ourselves from other helping professionals such as massage therapists or art therapists. But we can use the word “therapist” to differentiate ourselves from lawyers and other types of counselors such as career counselors."
I was challenged to take the position of Federal Congressional Campaign Manager from many, let's just say, (to not drop names) of 'the movers and shakers' of the highest levels of Tennessee States Government, and beyond. They said that my Candidate's political science was too advanced for the general population. This not only for our district, but for the entire United States of America. They proclaimed that the most seasoned Campaign Manager would not even be able to garner a single vote. My Candidate also, not being born in the USA (Southeast Asia), had overwhelming, tremendous odds against him, they asserted. A certain multi-millionaire (maybe billionaire)related that it would take an 'internationally known' Congressional Campaign Manager to even get a few votes, but, he said, it would be a very interesting/exciting thing to see what could be done. Needless to say, my Candidate won many debates and always participated when invited. He won hundreds of more votes than expected. He got his powerful message across in preparation for his next run. Also, probably unlike Yourself, his name is in encyclopedias, publications, and high-level U.S. Government publications, both in physical print and on the perpetuity. This being in the most honorable, positive light. He was, and, is first rate, having far exceeded the expectations of dignitaries of whom I am certain most USA born individuals will never even get the chance to see, or, speak with in person. We, my Candidate and I challenged and overcame the assertion 'Against All Odds'.
There is nothing you have written above that has the slightest ring of truth about it. But it it is highly delusional. I suppose you're also a secret member of the NSA, CIA, and FBI, with Top Secret clearance, and was given a decoder ring with your Cracker Jacks . . .
Sorry I trailed off there. It took me a few moments to get out of the floor from laughing so hard.
One percent of the votes, in a four-person primary contest is not good for the candidate or campaign manager. Spin it however you want, but it's truly embarrassing. I don't blame the candidate in this case; you're the reason for his poor/non-existent outcome.
Now on to your mental Health Therapist/Counselor credentials.
Post your credentials here Orr. Your science credentials and your mental health credentials.
You said you would last week. You haven't.
Answer these questions you said you would answer last week. You invited questions, I asked them. That's when you took a hiatus with excuses.
Credentials mean just that. Not jobs, not employment, credentials.
You can parse the words all you want, but that doesn't make counselor a "Therapist."
Your claims of employment are not credentials. Where did you graduate with degrees in the relative fields? What field was your Masters degree? Where did you do your practicum?
Counselor does not equal therapist, social worker, psychologist, or cognitive behaviorist.
Qualifications? What discipline of psychology? What did you do as counselor? What did you promote as the best psychological tact? Were you licensed by the state in which you were employed as a counselor/therapist? Why aren't you practicing as a "therapist" now? Why did you change employment so many times in such a limited geographic area?
This is the fifth time I've asked these questions about the mental health therapist credentials as you claimed, Orr.
While you explaining, please provide those "scientific credentials" you promised almost two years ago. You said you would then, but you never did.
What do you feel it's necessary to lie about yourself? Have you been institutionalized? Are you under medical care now?
There's something wrong with you, Orr. Desperately wrong.
Dr. Cherkinsky and Andrew Snelling do go toe-to-toe! Both stand their ground very well and refuse to surrender. I do see many (too many) possibilities for both sides of the argument. Yet, as I have told more than once on this site; my credentials are powerful in that I have studied physics, quantum and mechanical physics for longer than over half the population on earth has lived! I have found that when there is not a clearly definitive argument from one side to the other, then informed, educated intuition must be utilized.
Titles are credentials that identify a person as belonging to a specific group, such as nobility or aristocracy, or a specific command grade in the military, or in other largely symbolic ways. They may or may not be associated with specific authority, and they do not usually attest to any specific competence or skill (although they may be associated with other credentials that do). A partial list of such titles includes personal titles, such as Lord, Knight, Right Honorable, indicating an earned or inherited rank or position within a formal power structure; command ranks, such as Captain, Sergeant, etc., indicating likewise a very specific position in a command hierarchy, e.g. police rank or military rank; an academic degree or professional designation such as PhD, P.Eng or M.D., whether this be purely honorary or symbolic, or associated with credentials attesting to specific competence, learning, or skills; labor union and club memberships; persons allowed access to specific areas during special events, such as concerts and shows; citizenship, as in the case of passports and birth certificates.
Again, Orr, you've been busted. No credentials, no degrees in relative fields, no qualifications, no ability to answer any questions with a succinct answer, nothing but the same lies you've always given.
I bet you have a field day on job applications! That explains your "job history" and career.
You're a pathological liar and a fraud. You have been exposed again.
You're a sad little man, whose dreams of grandeur and accomplishments are purely mental delusions you tell yourself and then expect the world to believe because you want them to be true.
A four-year old child could see your deceptions. You've become a standing joke, a pathetic imitation of an adult.
You're an embarrassment to yourself, your family, and church. I doubt the "movers and shakes in high positions" will be asking for your expertise.
You're sick, very sick. But as long as you insist on telling your personal lies, I'll keep exposing you.
As a minion of the Anti-Christ, which in and of itself makes You an Anti-Christ, I expect no less from You DaytonsDarwin. Jesus Christ said sATAN was a liar from the beginning and the Father of Lies. With You, DaytonsDarwin, being an Ambassador of The Adversary (sATAN), You can do no more than, also, be an Accuser of the Brethren. This, especially being, since You having probably done nothing positive in life Yourself. You don't have to remain an underachiever (if you are), Christ Jesus will restore all good thing to You. This only leaves You with the making of the pathetic (powerless) attacks on individuals who have made a positive showing in life. Tell me, D.D., in what field did You work and obtain Your degree? It is still not too late for You D.D., while You are breathing and have a heartbeat. Please consider accepting Jesus Christ as Your Lord, God, and Saviour before it is eternally TOO LATE for You. This is sincere, and, no joking matter.
With the true love of Jesus Christ for You Daytonsdarwin,
I am, Ken ORR
Still no answers, Orr. You promised answers but have provided none. Still playing the same excuse games you always have. When called out, when cornered, when caught in your own web of lies, you shout Jesus as if that will take away your public lies.
You remain a liar. You have no credentials in either science or psychology, just a overwhelming compulsion to lie about your pitiful life.
Does your Jesus appreciate your lies? Does your God appreciate your public humiliation of good Christians for having lied while proclaiming Jesus? Does accepting Jesus make you a liar or is that your contribution to your faith?
You are a contempuous little man, Orr. Dishonest, bigoted, self-rightous, and utterly delusional.
I understand why you are a failure in life and have chosen religion as a hiding place. But your own lies, out of your own mouth, expose you for the simpering coward that you are.
You've proven again that you are not to be trusted or believed.
Shame on you, Orr. Shame on you bringing disgrace to your family.
Every time you post, Google makes available your lies to the world. Everytime someone searches for Ken Orr, you name and this post will be seen. Everytime, Orr, everytime.
Your legacy of lies will live long after you are dust.
Shame on you Orr, for leaving your name to any children that might claim you - "the sins of their fathers" sound familiar?
And after this expose of your continual deceit, I wouldn't wait on those "movers and shakers" you've claimed to be giving you a call for positions of power (I'm still laughing at that whopper).
You are a fraud.
I truly, without contradiction, love You Daytonsdarwin in The Lord Jesus Christ. I want You to be in The End Time Army of the Lord God of Hosts with us. There is a beautiful song, i believe divinely inspired...
'Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
calling for you and for me;
see, on the portals he's waiting and watching,
watching for you and for me.'
Come home, come home;
ye who are weary come home;
earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
calling, O sinner, come home!
2.'Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not his mercies,
mercies for you and for me?'
3.>>>'Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,>>>>>>passing from you and from me;>>>>>>shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming,>>>>>>coming for you and for me.'<<<<<<<
  1. 'O for the wonderful love he has promised,
promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, he has mercy and pardon,
pardon for you and for me.'
You can quote Bible verses, sing your sad and weepy songs, and call me the Anti-Christ until the your last corrupted breath, and you will still be a liar and a fraud.
Don't count me among your sinners. I have no need for mercy or pardon from imaginary boogeymen.
I'm sure you do for perpetuating your lies, and fraud against others in your efforts to appear as someone other than your small-minded and bigoted self.
Your scheme hasn't worked. No one believes your lies of self-aggrandisement. Everyone sees you're a fraud.
But you're in good company with the likes of Oral Roberts, Jimmy Swaggert, Jim Bakker, Ted Haggard, and Ken Hagin, and Kenneth Copeland. There's the Liars Club where you belong.
Shame on you.
Jesus Christ said with ultimate mercy:
Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
Jesus Christ knows of the absolute indescribable horrors of hell, fire, and brimstone. This is one place where even God does not get what He wants. He would not ever want anyone in creation to go to that place of no escape in eternal torment. Here is the proof that even our Lord Jesus Christ does not always get what He wants:
Saint Matthew 18:14..."Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish."
September 26, 2013 at 5 p.m.
2 Peter 3:9..."The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, 'not willing that any should perish', but that all should come to repentance."
Ezekiel 33:11..."Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die..."
How does your family deal with the humiliation you put them through?
Have you no shame for your fraud? Have you no shame for the constant embarrassment you place on the church you attend? Do you think they don't read these posts? Do you think everyone is blind to your continual lies?
Shame on you for your deceit. Your poor family.
September 26, 2013 at 5:33 p.m.
You know, so many people leave, or, never receive our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. The reason being is that they cannot 'cut the mustard'. Truly, in reality, none of us can meet His FORGIVENESS through Jesus' precious shed Blood on Calvary's cruel Cross.
Will You surrender Your present chosen lifestyle, ask forgiveness, repent, accept Jesus Christ as Your Saviour. Shun eternal Hell, and, gain eternal Heaven in the presence of Love...God Is Love!
It's difficult, but, not so difficult as to be undo-able. Just take a look at what The Supreme Commander of the Universe said:
Matthew 11:29-30 King James Version (KJV).Jesus Christ said:
"Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and 'ye shall find rest unto your souls'. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light."
You're still a liar and fraud. Shame on you for the embarrassment you've caused to your poor family.
Here's another lie your wrote.
Orr:"I was challenged to take the position of Federal Congressional Campaign Manager from many, let's just say, (to not drop names) of 'the movers and shakers' of the highest levels of Tennessee States Government, and beyond."
Do you not feel the burden of being a liar? Do you not repent of your continuing fraud? Are you yoked to Satan as one of his liars?
You are morally dishonest, your word is worth nothing, and for you to quote Bible verses is endemic of religious hypocrisy prevalent in fundamentalism.
You have no credibility as once again you've proved to be a liar and scoundrel.
Even Jesus is doing a face-palm at your lunatic claims.
