Woman dies of injuries after car goes airborne in Chattanooga crash

photo The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office responded to a single-vehicle incident in which a northbound Nissan Cube left the roadway on Highway 27 and went airborne.

A woman has died from her injuries after her car left the roadway and went airborne in a crash on Highway 27 yesterday.

The driver was identified as 42-year-old Tonya Frizzell of Soddy-Daisy, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. She was traveling northbound in her 2010 Nissan Cube at the time.

Authorities said Frizzell traveled in the median near the 1160 block of Highway 27 for unknown reasons before hitting a rise, then landing on its top in the 6200 block of Levi Road and rolling over. The accident occurred around 6:50 p.m.
