Cool cars and hot chili will add spice to an event debuting this weekend in Monteagle, Tenn.
Fire on the Mountain, set for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. CDT Saturday, Sept. 28, offers a chili cook-off and car show. Tracy City Street Rodders and the Monteagle Mountain Chamber of Commerce will present the inaugural event, to be held annually.
Entry costs are $25 for the chili cook-off ($30 for late registration), $10 for the car show. Spectator admission is $5 per carload, plus $5 for spoons to taste the contest chili. Proceeds go to Mike Price Toys for Tots.
The chili will be ready for tasting at noon. At 2 p.m., cash prizes of $500 will be awarded to the Judged Best Chili and the People's Choice.
Events will be held at Hannah Pickett Park, 16 Dixie Lee Ave. The day also includes music by a DJ, food vendors, music and local arts and crafts.
In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 12.
