MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The last of six gang members who robbed three Memphis banks has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.

The U.S. attorney's office in Memphis says 25-year-old Ernest Goodman was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge S. Thomas Anderson. Goodman pleaded guilty in May to bank robbery, using a firearm during a crime of violence and robbery affecting interstate commerce.

Prosecutors said Goodman was part of a gang that robbed three Bank of America branches. Members of the gang fired guns and pistol-whipped innocent victims on at least one occasion.

Goodman also robbed a Pizza Hut and a Church's Chicken restaurant in Memphis.

Five other men pleaded guilty to various charges. They have been sentenced to prison terms ranging between seven years and 25 years.
