Things I wish my kids would ask me

Editor's note: Barry Courter has a 24-year-old son who is a college graduate and a 19-year-old daughter who is a sophomore in college.

Q: Dad, I'm 24 years old, how am I supposed to know what I want to do in life if I haven't done it yet?

A: No one can answer that for you. I always envied my friends growing up who knew exactly what career they wanted and the path they would take to get there. I had a long list of things I knew I did not want to do, but very few ideas about what I wanted to do. The only thing I can offer is the same thing that every happy and successful person I've ever met says - and they all say it - "Find something you love doing and figure out how to make money doing it."
