University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore tennis player Kayla Jones was the women's main-draw singles champion Sunday in the 31st UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic at the Champions Club, and she and Katie Polk won the No. 2 draw doubles final. Jones won 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 against Murray State's Andrea Eskauriatza, and she and Polk defeated the top-seeded Eastern Kentucky duo of Saioa Oscoz and Melina Poffo, 8-3. The Mocs won seven of their nine matches Sunday with Jovana Pecovski and Eastern Kentucky's Carmen Rodriguz winning No. 3 doubles. Alexa Flynn, Claire Mulyadi and Pecovski also had singles wins for UTC, and the doubles teams of Jones/Katie Polk and Mulyadi/Alison Storie won their consolation matches. In men's play, UTC's Luke Saunders won the consolation final in No. 3 singles on Sunday at the Steve Baras Fall Classic and the Champions Club, topping ETSU's Umberto Setter 6-4, 6-3. In doubles, UTC's Austin Boaz and Marcos Morelli won the No. 4 doubles consolation final with an 8-6 win over Lipscomb's Nacor Ibanez and Abilene Christian's Michael Morris.

Golf

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's golf team plays its third tournament of the fall semester today and Tuesday at Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. The Starmount Fall Classic will have 15 teams playing 36 holes today, including Southern Conference members Elon, UNC Greensboro, Western Carolina, Wofford and UTC. Coach Colette Murray's Mocs have won the last four SoCon titles. The other schools participating are Campbell, Charleston Southern, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Jacksonville, James Madison, Maryland, North Florida, Richmond and Stetson. "I'm excited about this event," Murray said in a UTC release. "We should compete for the title and individually take some strong steps forward."

• Lee University wound up fifth in Lander University's Lady Bearcat Invitational golf tournament Sunday at Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Lady Flames shot a 306 in the final round to finish up with a score of 618. Bernadette Little led Lee with a two-day score of 150 to tie for ninth place individually, while Courtney Shelton was tied for 15th at 153. Madison Alexander had a score of 155, followed by Sarah Robertson (160) and Callie Kitchens (168).

• The 35th annual Tennessee Women's Senior Amateur golf tournament runs today through Wednesday at Ridgeway Country Club in Germantown, and defending champion Jean Roise from Crossville is entered along with 2009 and 2011 champion Georgia McCravey from Chattanooga and eight-time champ Maggie Scott from Charleston.

Soccer

• The UTC women's soccer team lost 2-1 to Georgia Southern in a "pink" game Sunday preceding the Komen Race for the Cure at Finley Stadium. Loryn Queen gave the Mocs and early lead with an assist by Clare Latham in the 13th minute, but te Eagles scored twice in the second half to pick up the win. GSU outscored UTC 21-9 and Mocs keeper Taylor Mangrum made nine saves.

• Lee University spotted West Alabama a 3-0 lead at halftime in Gulf South men's soccer Sunday, but the Flames roared back with four second half goals to claim a thrilling 4-3 win. Josh Ball had a hat trick with three goals to tie the match at the 86:27 mark, and four second later former McCallie standout Arturo Rocha scored the game winner on an unassisted shot. Chevon Robers assisted on two of Ball's goals, and Tom Halsall made six saves in goal while holding West Alabama scoreless in the second half.

• Ford Emerson scored twice as the Sewanee men's soccer team rolled to a 4-1 win over Emory & Henry on Sunday. Emerson opened the scoring at the 8:03 mark and added another goal in the second half of the win. William White and Brian Maloney also scored for the Flames, and freshman keeper Holden Foster picked up his fifth straigh win in goal.

Volleyball

• Jamie Sue Wilson and Diamond Stewart combined for 27 kills in Sewanee's 3-2 Southern Athletic Association volleyball loss Sunday against visiting Birmingham-Southern. Set scores were 27-25, 16-25, 25-14, 20-25, 15-13. Rachel Schuman had a season-high 28 assists, and Walker Buxton added 15 assists.

Field Hockey

• Sewanee won 6-2 Sunday in SAA field hockey at home against Hendrix College, after losing 3-1 to Rhodes on Saturday. Against Rhodes, the Tigers' Carrie Anderson scored from a Mary Kate McAlister assist just 1:42 in, but Kate Taylor and Christina Difelice scored for the Lynx (3-5, 3-1) in the 17th and 24th minutes and Erin Best added a second-half goal. Gabrielle Fignar made 12 saves for Sewanee. Sunday, Karen Dawson had a hat trick with three goals to go along with single goals by Anderson, Zuie Billings and Kat Mulligan.
