The Chattanooga Fire Department has reported that the portion of a building at 901 Dodson Ave. that it described as the Blue Spot lounge was heavily damaged by a fire this morning.

A news release said Mercury Cab, which occupies another part of the building, was unaffected by the blaze.

Six fire companies had responded to the alarm.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is being investigated, the fire department said.

The space identified as the Blue Spot was unoccupied and had no electrical service.

Lt. Henry McElvain with the Fire Investigation Division said the cause of the fire is suspicious in nature. The dollar loss was estimated at $50,000.
