Ulesis CoronaDalton police have arrested a fifth person in connection with the March 23 killing of a local bar's security guard.
On Tuesday, officers charged 17-year-old Ulesis Corona with making false statements to law enforcement officers. According to the Whitfield County Jail's website, police are currently holding him without bond.
According to a news release, Corona was with Orlando Ramirez, Fernando Resendiz and Juvencio Vega-Garcia last week when Ramirez opened fire at Las Delicias, a bar located at 511 E Morris St. Police say Ramirez shot two security guards after they did not let the 20 year old into the bar.
One security guard survived, but 28-year-old Bruno Rodriguez died.
After the shooting, Vega-Garcia ran away and hopped in a car driven by Resendiz. Ramirez later walked away from the scene, and Resendiz picked him up on East Morris Street.
According to investigators, Corona was in that car, too. Dalton Police Public Relations Specialist Bruce Frazier said he could not reveal how officers learned that Corona was with the group.
"I cannot go into details about what was revealed during interviews," Frazier said.
Ramirez, Resendiz and Vega-Garcia have all been charged with homicide and aggravated assault. All three remain in jail without bond.
Officers also charged Ramirez's girlfriend, Alexa Jiminez, with hindering the apprehension of a criminal and making false statements to law enforcement officers.
