Spring cleaning on your to-do list?
As area residents begin to move, remodel or declutter their homes, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area is hoping to receive any unwanted, gently used furniture, cabinetry, appliances, household items, tools and building supplies in its annual Spring Clean Donation Drive.
Donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday this month (April 5, 12, 19 and 26) at the Lowe's Home Improvement stores in Hixson (5428 Highway 153) and Chattanooga (2180 Gunbarrel Road). A Habitat ReStore truck will be stationed at the rear of the parking lots and manned by ReStore staff and volunteers during those hours.
All items are tax-deductible and should be clean and in good, working condition. Appointments for free pickup may be scheduled for items too large or too heavy to transport.
"All revenue generated from sales at our discounted home improvement store enables us to build more homes for working families in the greater Chattanooga community," says Marty Mauldin, operations manager at the Chattanooga ReStore.
Founded in 2004, the ReStore, 1150 E. 14th St., is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays.
