Eighth Street in downtown Chattanooga shut down for water line repair

West Eighth Street between Market and Broad streets will be shut down from 6 p.m. to midnight today to repair a broken water valve, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Transportation Department.

Two other emergency repairs also are scheduled this week, Transportation Department spokeswoman Caroline Johnson said.

Flagmen will narrow the 700 block of Mocasin Bend Road for a broken water valve repair from 6 p.m. to midnight Wednesday and Thursday.

Also, the outbound lanes of Lee Highway at the intersection with Provence Street and Jim Snow Way will be narrowed to one lane from 8: 30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday to fix a broken valve.
