The Cleveland Police Department has closed its investigation into allegations by a Bradley County prosecutor that she was assaulted by her boss, 10th Judicial District District Attorney Steve Bebb, who subsequently fired her.
"We have worked with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to assure that the matter was handled properly," police public information officer Evie West said in a statement. "The matter was resolved within the District Attorney's Office before we had a clear direction for the investigation."
Cynthia Lecroy-Schemel told the Times Free Press on Saturday that Bebb had fired her the previous day.
On Tuesday LeCroy-Schemel was reinstated by Bebb to her position as an assistant attorney general, according to a news release.
