Chattanooga Police are searching for a white man in his 40s to 50s in connection with the robbery of the First Volunteer Bank branch on Highway 58 this morning.

Officers said the suspect entered the bank about 10:15 a.m. and gave a note to a teller.

Police said they do not know if the man, who was not wearing gloves or a mask, was armed.

It is unclear how much money he stole, authorities said.

"We don't know how much money he has got right now," Chattanooga Police Department spokesman Tim McFarland said at the scene.

The suspect is about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall and heavyset, McFarland said.

The man left through the same door he entered the bank and he may have jumped over a back fence, police said.

No one was injured.

Investigators are still processing the scene and interviewing employees inside the bank.

Police said they likely will release video footage of the crime later today. They said the footage is clear and sharp.
