Notre Dame's Tyler Roberson recently signed scholarship papers to continue his soccer career at Tennessee Wesleyan College, an NAIA school in Athens.

The senior midfielder has helped the Irish to back-to-back Class A/AA state tournament appearances, and he was named to Times Free Press Best of Preps team last season, as well as a spot on the all-state team. He has two goals so far this season as the Irish have started the year off 4-5-2 -- a misleading mark due to the strength of their early-season schedule.

"He's a good all-around player," Notre Dame coach Jim Schermerhorn said. "It's all about soccer for him. He's a good kid on and off the field, and he's really committed to keep playing and he's taking the next step. It takes a lot of courage and commitment to play in college.

"He's done a great job for us at Notre Dame, and I'm sure he'll do a great job at Wesleyan. He's a good skill player who's pretty smart and a leader on the field. I think he'll do well."
