BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A federal judge has sentenced a Talladega County man to six years in prison for trying to hire Ku Klux Klan members to kill his African-American neighbor.

Authorities said in a statement Monday that 30-year-old Allen Wayne Densen Morgan of Munford was sentenced for causing someone else to use interstate facilities and travel with the intent of committing a murder for hire.

Investigators have said Morgan told FBI agents posing as white supremacists that he would pay them to murder his neighbor, whom he suspected of raping his wife.

Authorities have said Morgan offered a watch, a necklace and a gun as payment for the man's torture and slaying.

Morgan has also been ordered to serve three years of supervised release after his sentence.
