Abdulhakim Ado, one of the top rising junior basketball players in the nation, has recently been selected to participate in the USA Elite National Under 20 team in the World Championships in Tourcoing, France.

Ado, a native of Nigeria who preps at Hamilton Heights, has made unbelievable strides since arriving in the country in February of 2013. The 6-foot-11 center averaged 9.8 points, 11.8 rebounds and 7.3 blocks per game for the Hawks during his sophomore campaign.

The championships will take place from June 18-23, and the United States will be competing against seven other countries. NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant are among the alumni of players who have participated in the games.

"We are excited about this opportunity for Abdul to get to compete on a world stage," Hamilton Heights coach Zach Ferrell said in a statement. "To be able to compete against some of the best in the world and to see and experience another country and culture is a priceless opportunity. Abdul is a great player and a great person, and we as a team and school are proud of him and the opportunity that he has earned.

"This opportunity will be a huge stepping stone for his development and will be an experience that he will never forget."
