The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team earned a spot in the Southern Conference quarterfinals with a 4-2 victory over Davidson on Wednesday at the Champions Club.

The Mocs (7-13), who will face top seed Elon this morning at 8:30 a.m., claimed a pair of wins in doubles to earn the doubles point, then had singles wins from Pavels Grigorjevs, Jorge Varon and Derrick Brown, with Varon's win clinching the victory. It was a turnaround from the regular season, when the Wildcats defeated the Mocs 5-2.

Varon and Grigorjevs also had the deciding win at No. 1 doubles.

Both of Wofford's teams had wins Wednesday, with the men blanking The Citadel 4-0 and the women defeating Davidson 4-3. Lady Terrier senior Sarah Evans, who prepped at GPS, dropped her match at No. 1 singles, but teammate Catherine Martin claimed a three-set win over Davidson's Sarah Stein to claim the win.

Appalachian State's women defeated Western Carolina 4-1 in the other first-round match.
