Stanley R. "Randy" Tucker, who retired a little less than a year ago as headmaster of Girls Preparatory School, was killed in an auto accident on I-75 about 10 a.m. today.

Known as an innovator in the education field and an early adopter of promising technology, Tucker pushed the boundaries of education during his 26-year tenure, associates said.

Tucker had been serving as the interim head of school at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tenn.

Tucker had retired from GPS in 2013 after 26 years heading the local school.

His vehicle was traveling northbound on I-75 when it left the roadway on the left shoulder. The vehicle struck a guardrail and an embankment before overturning.

Tucker was pronounced dead on arrival at Sky Ridge Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Terri; son, Trey; and daughter Taylor.
