Fire destroys vacant commercial building on Wauhatchie Pike

Fire this morning destroyed a vacant commercial building at 451 Wauhatchie Pike, the Chattanooga Fire Department has reported.

A passing motorist had seen flames at the building and called 911 about 4:25 a.m.

The fire department responded with six fire companies, but the building was fully engulfed in flames.

Battalion Chief Chris Willmore reported that the building was a total loss.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
