Next Mount Vernon supper club is Saturday - April 26

Thursday, April 24, 2014

A Greek-themed menu will be served diners attending the next Washington Supper Club at the Mount Vernon Restaurant, 3535 Broad St. Dinner starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

The restaurant's new supper club, held the last Saturday of each month, features foods from local farms. This month's theme traces the Mount Vernon's Greek origins back 60 years, according to owner Jeff Messinger. The grandfather of his wife, Cindy Messinger, was a Greek immigrant who founded the Mount Vernon in the 1950s.

Hannah Messinger, the fourth generation to join the family business, says the menu will include Greek dishes with a Southern twist such as pecan baklava glazed with local honey, lamb stew and Niedlov's bread with house-made herbed ricotta.

The five-course dinner is $35 per person. Reservations may be made by phone at 423-266-6591 or online at washingtonsupperclub.squarespace.com.
