The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Teghan Henderson set a Southern Conference record in the women's 10,000-meter race on the first day of the league track and field meet Saturday at Spartanburg, S.C., and teammate Jessica York won the 1500 in 4:35.90. Henderson's record time was 34:35.06; the old record of 35:06 was set by UTC's Lanni Marchant in 2007. The Mocs' Mark Cole and Harry Smithers were second and third with Paul Stuart sixth in the men's 10k, and Iman Isang was third in the in the 110 hurdles, Nathan Wanuch was third in the 3000 steeplechase and Trevor Janssen was fourth in the 1500.

• Carson-Newman track and field athletes Tiana Mills from GPS and T.J. Davis from Ooltewah both won long jump and triple jump championships in the South Atlantic Conference meet last week. Mills' winning jumps were 17-6.75 and 36-0.75, and Davis's were 22-7.75 and 47-6.50.

• Teenagers John Dickerson of Altamont, Tenn., and Allie Anderson of Rossville were the overall winners of the National Cornbread Festival 5k race Saturday morning in South Pittsburg. Dickerson, 15, was the fastest of 233 finishers in 19 minutes, 48 seconds, and Bill Minehan, 51, of Hixson was second in 20:06. Anderson was the first female and 10th overall in 22:25.

Tennis

• Wesley Cash of Chattanooga and Mark Vines of Lynchburg, Va., took the doubles point with a 6-2, 6-1 victory for the United States in the men's 55 team final of the International Tennis Federation Seniors World Championships on Saturday at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., but top-seeded Australia already had clinched the Austria Cup title by taking both singles matches. Cash, who has been part of eight consecutive USTA age-group national doubles championships, was undefeated in doubles for the silver medalists.

Softball

• Lexie Dean was 5-for-6 with four RBIs and four runs scored as Lee University whipped Christian Brothers 11-1 and 11-2 in Gulf South softball Saturday in Cleveland. Ana Coscorros was 3-for-3 with two home runs and six RBIs in the first game for Lee (22-22, 12-14), and Lizzie Stevens had two RBIs in that game and added four with a homer in game two, when Jesse Giles was 2-for-3 and matched Amanda Lynn's two RBIs. Dominique Hannah was 2-for-2 in each game and scored three runs in game two, and Laurel Allen was 3-for-4 with four runs for the day.

• Cleveland State ended its softball season with 7-6 and 6-4 losses Friday at Volunteer State in their TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII play-in series. In both cases the Lady Cougars led 3-0 before falling. Emily Huston hit a two-run homer and an RBI double and Jennifer Kern doubled and singled in two runs for Cleveland State (21-29) in the first game, when Ginny Clayborne had an RBI double and a three-run triple and scored the winning run after another triple for Vol State (28-24), which will host the final five this coming weekend. Hannah Powell had a two-run homer in game two for the Lady Cougars.

Lacrosse

• Katie Riddle had seven goals and three assists and Molly Grimm had five goals and one assist as the Sewanee women's lacrosse team whipped Birmingham-Southern 22-8 in the Southern Athletic Association semifinals Saturday at Danville, Ky. Sally Anne Greenwood added three goals and three assists and Crawford Horan made 13 saves for the Tigers (12-6), who scored the first eight goals. Host Centre (16-2) beat Berry 13-9 with a team-high four goals and an assist from GPS graduate Sarah Mastey and one goal and one assist from another former Bruiser, Audrey Powers.

Golf

• Playing as individuals, Sewanee's Alison Eleey and Emily Javadi are tied for first and third at 152 and 155 going into the final day of the SAA women's golf tournament at Chateau Elan Resort at Braselton, Ga. First-place Centre's Alyssa Brown and Birmingham-Southern's Kaleigh Toole, Baylor School alumnae like Javadi, respectively are 11th at 162 and 19th at 167. Sewanee's Timothy Walter and Alex Wedding are tied for 22nd individually at 154 in the SAA men's tournament. The Tigers are seventh out of eight teams.

• Chase Jones and Tyler Mitchell of Chatsworth lead the Georgia Four-Ball Championship by two strokes at 129 (66-63) at Cartersville Country Club, and Calhoun's Chad Wilson and Cres Dodd are on separate teams tied for second and fourth at 131 and 132.

• Ringgold High School junior Ryann McCuistion recently participated in a collegegolfcamps.com camp at Hilton Head Island, S.C., and shot rounds of 87 and 79. She was second in birdies and tied for fourth in par-3 and par-5 rankings for the two days. She has qualified for the high school Class AAA state tournament on May 19.
