Severe weather possible in northern, central GA

ATLANTA - Severe weather pushing toward Georgia could bring a threat of tornadoes to northern counties and some central regions of the state.

The National Weather Service says severe thunderstorms are possible tonight across northern and central Georgia. Forecasters say the storms could spawn isolated tornadoes, particularly in northwest Georgia in an area that includes the cities of Cedartown, Rome, Dalton and Blue Ridge. Damaging winds and large hail could be seen in some areas.

The weather service says the potential for severe weather, including tornadoes, in Georgia will continue Tuesday and Wednesday. Portions of north and central Georgia could see some flooding, with 3 to 5 inches of rainfall forecast to fall this week.
