Walker County sheriff warns of jury duty scam

Monday, April 28, 2014

The Walker County Sheriff's Office is warning county residents about a jury duty scam.

In a news release, Sheriff Steve Wilson said that callers will tell victims that they failed to show up to jury duty. As a result, the caller says, the victim has to purchase a prepaid credit card, call the caller back and read him or her all of the credit card information.

The sheriff's office won't call people and tell them to do this, Wilson said. Neither will the Walker County Clerk of Court's office.

Anyone with information about the scam is asked to call 706-375-7810.
