3 arrested after Whitfield County traffic stop leads to discovery of drugs, guns

A Whitfield County deputy's traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and guns and led to three arrests Wednesday.

A sheriff's office news release said deputies stopped a Jeep Cherokee on the Dalton Bypass. During the stop, officers discovered that the driver had a Glock Model 19 handgun and more than $1,800 of cash in the vehicle

The driver, Adrian Trinidad, was a convicted drug felon and not eligible to possess a handgun. He was taken into custody and a search warrant obtained for his apartment on Waring Road.

There, officers found three more handguns, 4 pounds of methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging material and $4,226 in currency. A stolen Yamaha Rhino 660 that had been reported stolen in Chattanooga was also recovered, according to the release.

Officers found two people in the apartment who were Trinidad's neighbors. A search of their apartment turned up digital scales, marijuana, and methamphetamine.

The renters, Megan Wally and Miguel Velasquez, and a third man in their apartment, John Ramos, all were taken into custody. Ramos was wanted on warrant charging him with selling marijuana.

Trinidadhas been charged with trafficking, possession and sale of methamphetamine, weapons charges, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Megan Rose Wally and Miguel Angel Velasquez are each charged with possession and trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of tools of the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Wally was also charged with the possession of methamphetamine.

John Carlos Ramos has been charged with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and selling marijuana.
