Courter: Things I wish my kids would ask me

Friday, August 8, 2014

Editor's note: Barry Courter has a 25-year-old son who is a college graduate and a 20-year-old daughter who is a sophomore in college.

Q: Dad, junior year in college starts in a couple of weeks. How is it different than the first two?

A: Well, first of all, the first two were actually four for me, but who's counting? There are two things to consider, however. First, you know the system now, so it should be less mysterious if not easier. That makes it easier to skip class. Don't. The second thing is you'll be taking classes in your major that are more interesting, relevant and real world. While that won't make the workload any lighter, it does make it more fun.
