VALLEJO, Calif. - Four firefighters and three drivers are hospitalized after a chain-reaction crash involving a ladder truck in the Northern California city of Vallejo.

Vallejo Fire Department spokesman William Tweedy said the crash occurred Saturday as firefighters were responding to a kitchen fire.

He said the ladder truck had its sirens on when it collided with a car at a street intersection, causing it strike two vehicles, overturn twice and strike a third vehicle.

The truck came to a stop a block away from the initial collision.

Tweedy said the injured were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

He said it was unbelievable that nobody was seriously hurt or killed in the crash. One of the cars was badly mangled, and ladder truck's back box was mostly ripped up.
