CARTERSVILLE, Ga. - Sheriff's officials in northwest Georgia are investigating a series of shootings that killed two people and left three others injured.

Sheriff Clark Millsap says three people were shot at a house in Cartersville and one was pronounced dead on the scene.

Millsap says the gunman fled and crashed a car into a house. Millsap says the shooter kicked the second home's door in and shot an occupant in his hand.

Millsap says the shooter then carjacked an elderly man and his grandson and crashed their vehicle into a truck. Millsap says the impact caused a fire and the gunman shot himself in the head.

Millsap says the suspect knew the victims, but details on a potential motive haven't been disclosed.

The identities of the shooter and victims haven't been released.
