Lake Johnson made a double-bogey Tuesday on his last hole of the Baylor Preview high school golf tournament at Black Creek Club.

He thought it could cost him medalist honors. Then Chattanooga Christian teammate Scott Stevens signed for the same score of 5-under-par 139.

They tied. They did not play off; instead, they will share the honors.

"He's never won it, and I never won it, and this is our last year to play in it," Johnson said. "So we decided to share it."

Johnson and Stevens opened with 6-under 66s on Monday then and shot 73s on the second day.

"It was a different story today," Stevens said. "I just couldn't get anything going.

"Hopefully this will be a good sign for us in upcoming events."

Baylor junior Katherine Holmes had no thoughts of sharing a medal. So after she shot an even-par 144, she played off with Haley Long of Rossview. Holmes ended the playoff with a birdie on the first hole.

"I didn't play well in the Preview last year, and I wanted to start my season off with a great score," Holmes said. "I think I did that."

Memphis University School won the boys' team championship with a 596, including 3-over 147s from Hays Moreland and Goodman Rudolph. Farragut finished runner-up at 599, and Baylor placed third at 601.

Clarksville won the girls' championship with a 303, including a 152 from Riley Cooper. Baylor was the runner-up at 308.
