2 dead, 2 injured in shooting involving Knoxville police cadet

KNOXVILLE — A Knoxville police cadet and another person have been killed and two other people have been injured in a shooting stemming from a family feud.

Police Chief David Rausch told media outlets that the shooting happened at about 11:30 p.m. Friday when 21-year-old Michael Little went to see his former girlfriend, 18-year-old Ashley Womack.

Officers say Little pulled a .45 caliber handgun and shot the teen's mother, 47-year-old Rhonda Womack, and 28-year-old Travis Wegener.

Officers say Ashley's 20-year-old brother, Joshua Womack, got a .22 caliber rifle. Little was shot more than once during the shootout.

Wegener was pronounced dead at the scene. Ashley Womack was treated and released from UT Medical Center.

Rhonda Womack was in serious condition at UT Medical Center.

Little was pronounced dead upon arrival at UT.
