Female burglary suspect shot, killed in Harriman; TBI investigating

HARRIMAN – A female burglary suspect was shot and killed by police answering a call of a burglary in progress about 1 p.m. Tuesday on Fairchild Street, authorities said.

The shooting occurred after a brief vehicle pursuit that turned into a foot chase, Harriman Mayor Chris Mason said. Harriman Police Chief Randy Heidle was unavailable for comment.

Details are sketchy, but Mason said it’s reported the burglary occurred at a self-storage business. After the pursuits, the suspect went into a house on Fairchild Street, Mason said. Harriman Police Department Investigator Dan Schneider followed, along with a Roane County deputy.
