A Hixson duplex went up in flames Thursday morning, but no one was injured in the blaze, Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner said in a release.

The fire broke out at 4670 Cary Lane around 11:13 a.m. today, Garner said. Four fire companies responded and forced their way into the home to look for occupants.

They discovered that no one was home at the time of the fire. Firefighters contained the fire to one side of the duplex, but both sides suffered smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
