Sunday's Chattanooga Market will have all the amenities you'd expect from an open-air venue showcasing locally grown and hand-crafted products: fresh vegetables, meats, cheeses and bread; arts and crafts; good food; great entertainment and TV viewing.

Hold on ... TV viewing?

Yep, on Aug. 24, marketgoers will be able to watch television in the Smart Move Lounge, compliments of EPB, which is partnering with the market for EPB Fiber Optics Smart Move Sunday. It will be an opportunity for area residents to learn more about fiber optics and why Chattanooga is now known as "Gig City."

"We're at the market every Sunday, but we're going to ramp things up this Sunday and connect with the crowd," says John Pless, EPB public relations coordinator. "We're going to introduce them to our hometown team and show them that we're local, we're here and we work in our community."

Among the activities will be gig demonstrations, giveaways and games such as cornhole and a stress reliever for subscribers to cable, the EPB's competition. It's simply "a punching bag at a boxing station," Pless says. "It's just for fun, but people enjoy it."

Marketgoers also can meet installer/technician Chase Griffith, who has become the face of EPB.

"He is heavily featured in our advertising on TV and billboards," Pless says. "Our customers will recognize him. He's a nice guy."

EPB Fiber Optics customers and others will have the chance to talk to installers and ask them any questions about their service.

Dr. Shock, the safety instructor in Hamilton County schools, also will be at the market meeting with the public.

Melissa Siragusa says vegetable lovers won't be disappointed by the selection of fresh produce.

"Everything is in season right now," she says, noting that tomatoes are popular with customers this time of year.
