Prep Blitz 2014: Ider Hornets

IDER HORNETS

Head coach: Brent Tinker (46-70 in 12 years here and overall)

Last year: 1-9

Returning starters (O/D/K): 6/6/0

Control panel: The Hornets won't lack for toughness, beginning with MLB Jarett Palmer (5-9, 175), who'll also play RB and follow the blocks of OT Justin Bearden (6-4, 285), who anchors the defensive line as well. Tyler Ogle (5-7, 140) is another two-way player who will be counted on heavily in the offensive and defensive backfields.

New producers: QB Devin Dobbins (5-10, 160, Jr.) takes over the offense after a season with the junior varsity, and much of the Hornets' success depends on how quickly he develops. Levi Durham (6-0, 235) is moving from LT to guard and also will play DE.

Items of interest:

4-3 - Ider's new defensive alignment. The Hornets are switching to a four-man front in hopes of stopping the run better.

"We gave up way too many big plays on defense last year. We've got to be more aggressive and tackle better." - Hornets coach Brent Tinker

28 - The total number on the roster, including just six seniors. The Hornets likely will have three freshmen start or play significant snaps.
