Tennessee teen accused of killing mom charged in guard assault

A Hendersonville teen accused of bludgeoning his mother to death with a sledgehammer in 2012 has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation after allegedly assaulting a jail guard on July 29.

The teen's first-degree murder trial has been put on hold as well.

A Sumner County grand jury charged Zachary Davis, 17, with aggravated assault for allegedly causing "serious bodily injury to Bradford Morris," according to an indictment issued Aug. 8.
